Demo playback optimised in recent update

Situational input recognition issue addressed

In the latest piece in the string of updates following the massive “On the other hand” update, Valve gave the demo viewer a second look, deploying minor optimisations and at the end of the demo playback the feed will now pause instead of returning the player to the main menu.

UI characters will now feature player-equipped gloves instead of the default variants and a case where keyboard inputs wouldn’t get recognised during the map-voting phase at the end of a game has been addressed.

Alongside demo optimisations and input fine-tunes, arms race has been added as a game mode for community map-makers to submit to the workshop. Here’s Valve’s release notes for the update:

MISC

  • Fixed a bug where the game would stop taking keyboard input during the end-of-match map vote.

  • Fixed a bug where UI characters always had default gloves equipped.

  • Demo playback will pause at the end of a recording instead of returning to the main menu.

  • Minor demo playback optimizations.
