FACEIT launches new verification system

FACEIT have announced the launch of their new verification service called the FACEIT ID Verification system.

FACEIT has announced that the ID Verification system will be the 'first of many product releases that will go live this year as part of a general overhaul of FACEIT'. The ID Verification system is stated as 'unmatched layer of security and trust' for the players while on the platform. FACEIT has partnered with Daon on the ID Verification product. An industry leader in identity verification, Daon will help FACEIT to verify their 250 million accounts., All the ID Verification information will be stored on Daon's European datacenters while the FACEIT database will only store the person and not the verification data.

The ID Verification system will be free, optional and is available to all players starting from May 4, 2023. The verification process sees a player go through an encrypted 4-step multi-factor process which needs a smartphone, face capture and ID documentation. Once verified, players will receive a badge on their profile. Players who are under the age of 18 currently can't verify their profiles and FACEIT have also announced that those players who aren't able to share their ID for various reasons will be given an alternative option known as 'multi-factor face capture'.

FACEIT has also announced that in the future the verification will be needed to access certain competition and other FACEIT experiences.

FACEIT's main goal behind the creation of the ID Verification system and other products and services which will launch later this year is to combat smurfs, cheaters and boosted players who ruin the games for others amongst other problems caused by them.
