Asia to get two direct invites to Budapest Major after Valve updates Regional Allocation
Valve has updated the CS Major Supplemental Rulebook with regional invite allocations for the upcoming StarLadder Budapest Major, based on results from the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.
Compared to a total of five representation in the Major prior, out of which only The MongolZ were able to receive a direct invite, 2 Asian teams will be directly invited to Budapest, one to Stage three and one to Stage 2.
Stage 3 Invites:
Europe: 5
Americas: 2
Asia: 1
Stage 2 Invites:
Europe: 5
Americas: 2
Asia: 1
Stage 1 Invites:
16 spots (TBD)
Europe will now receive five slots each for Stage 3 and Stage 2, while the Americas get two and Asia secures one in both stages. As for Stage 1, the 16 available slots are still listed as "TBD," hinting at a possible change-up from the previous 6-6-4 distribution between Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
One of the biggest shifts sees Europe losing a Stage 3 spot to the Americas, due to strong finishes from paiN and FURIA, both of whom reached the top eight in Austin. In Stage 2, however, Europe and Asia each gain an extra slot, reducing the Americas’ allocation to two.
Valve has also introduced stricter rules around team rosters. Once a team receives an invite, its lineup is locked. The five players listed at the time of the invite are considered the team’s core, and no changes can be made to that group. Teams are still allowed to register one substitute, but that player cannot affect the team’s regional status.
