FACEIT reveals how Elo is reset in Season 9

In a recent announcement, FACEIT has revisited their Elo reset approach for the upcoming season. After previously confirming that Elo resets will continue to be a part of FACEIT's upcoming seasons, FACEIT has now announced that the Elo reset will in fact be "softer". This means that players will now start closer to where they finished in the previous season.

The new system will hand smaller resets to players under 2,000 Elo performing consistently on an average level while firmly recalibrating the ones performing on a comparatively higher level. Players over 3,500 Elo will receive harsh resets regardless of performance to "keep the top of the ladder competitive". However, all of this counts only if a player has over 20 wins in Season 8.

However, in Season 9, the lighter Elo reset will factor in a player's recent win rate and FACEIT rankings before recalibrating their new rank. Strong placement games will give players a better chance to climb higher.

Here's how the Elo reset works in Season 9:

• More than 20 wins in Season 8: Small reset, start closer to where you finished.

• Less than 20 wins in Season 8: Inactivity penalty, larger downward adjustment.

• Players at the highest level: Big compression to keep the leaderboard competitive.

Season 8 of FACEIT will end in the first week of August and the next season will follow up on the very next day. Season 9's placement games will also factor in your last 50 games in the previous season.
