
Another Counter-Strike research paper surfaces
A student at the University of National Education Commission took to Reddit, sharing his research paper towards fulfilling his degree requirements. The student who went by the handle u/choocomint on Reddit apparently wrote a paper around communication and callouts in Counter-Strike, classifying them as a separate sociolect. The student was an English Major, trying to uncover the "linguistic variety" within "gamers' language".
Diving deep into one's favorite video game to write a research paper towards minor and major research projects towards university degrees has become increasingly popular. This particular paper also touches up on previous research done on gaming language and much more.

Interestingly, the paper misses out on an opportunity to explore these callouts in detail where today's players refer to certain positions using plays and player names that came generations before them.
