"It sucks": mzinho on the new CS2 animations
Counter-Strike has been receiving pretty significant updates over the past month in terms of gameplay and a in a recent one, the developers reworked every single first person weapon animation, initiating the AnimGraph 2 migration. During the course of IEM Cologne 2025 and FISSURE Playground 1, HLTV asked pros about their views on these updates.
mzinho from The MongolZ didn't take too kindly on the new first person weapon animations. The young Mongolian rifler shared that the new animations made CS2 feel like a mobile game. yuurih and zweih reacted more positively to the recent updates with zweih mentioning that he likes the new animations and makes the game feel new to him. FURIA's yuurih stated that he liked the changes on Overpass, Inferno and Train.
It sucks. It really just looks like some mobile game.
mzinho, The MongolZ
I like the map changes on Overpass, Inferno and Train.

I like the animations, it feels like a new game. I think I like all the moves that Valve are doing with the guns.

While not getting into the finer details, Mezii seems to like the new animations, especially on the pistols. The British rifler shared his thoughts on Train's CT-side buff and how its fun to see what Valve are trying to do with every new update. From leadership standpoints, Hooxi and FalleN both reacted positively to the economy changes on CT but Hooxi had a small straw to pick.
I'm not that much of a geek like ropz but for me they seem fine, some of them are really cool like the Glock and P250. Updates are always positive and I think its fun to see what they're trying to do with the game and the last update with the economy and all was good. Its gonna take some time to get used to on Train, the extra cover buffs the CT-side up a little more.

Its pretty good, I think in general something needed to happen. I think the kill bonus should only be the loss bonus and maybe the bomb kills shouldn't count as well.
Hooxi, Astralis
The CT-economy needed a boost and I think this a good way to try it out. Still needs to be evaluated, playing matches but Valve is making good changes.
FalleN, FURIA
Four time Major Champion device admits that the CT-economy buff was much needed and shared how he feels that the second rounds should be more balanced with the changes. Another veteran Counter-Strike campaigner, karrigan spoke positively about the recent updates and pointed out how the extra money would sometimes net a hero M4 which could inflict a lot of damage.
The economy update is really well designed. The CTs get an economy buff and it makes the second rounds more balanced.
device, Astralis
Yeah I like the update with the money and the CT-molotov is obviously better. Its one of the best changes I've seen and it has a great impact in practice, like you can buy hero M4s and do a lot of damage with the extra money. I still hate the loss bonus 1.4, it really kills the momentum on both sides. Besides that, a beautiful update and thank you Valve.
