The MongolZ go down fighting to G2
The Esports World Cup 2024 kicked off with G2 taking on The MongolZ in the opening game. A Playoffs spot was up for grabs while the loser was set to drop to the Last Chance Stage.
Ancient was the series opener as the new-look G2 started with a two-round lead on their defensive half. With m0NESY and NiKo starting strong, The MongolZ's comeback attemps fell short as G2 hung on for a 13-11 win. Inferno saw bLitz help The MongolZ start with a 7-5 lead on their CT half. At 10-6, it looked like The MongolZ would waltz to a third map but G2 fought back once again before bLitz came in with a critical 1v3 on the B site in the final round of regulation to push Inferno to overtime.

Techno's 1v2 on the A site gave The MongolZ their only round in overtime as G2 closed Inferno at 16-13. The loss now drops The MongolZ to the Last Chance Stage.
