Tier-two teams report cases of Akros Anti-Cheat malfunction during official games

Akros mistakingly banned several players during official games

Several tier-2 teams have reported cases of anti-cheat Akros malfunctioning during or after official games. Akros is a hybrid anti-cheat, employing both heuristic and signature-based detection, and has been used in a number of CS2 tournaments.

An incident, reported by ARCRED Esports, came to light on X, where their stand-in Redzed was banned by Akros right before their game against Sashi at CCT S3, resulting in the coach having to play as the fifth. ARCRED, who were left confused as to the reason behind the ban, alleged that Redzed had never violated any rules.

On the same day, G2's GM peca reported an incident that occurred with their academy team G2 Ares, when they played the semi-final of OfUnited21 against Smooya's team. G2 Ares' main AWPer Krivosheev was falsely banned after the first, due to what peca claims to be a confirmed technical malfunction.

According to peca, the error was acknowledged by the Akros team 7 hours later, who tied to a Windows API fault on their end. The ban rendered Krivosheev unable to play, as G2 had no choice but to play with their coach. G2 Ares lost the game, and were pushed down to the lower-bracket.
