
Basement Boys pull off big upset in DraculaN 2 opener
In the opening match of DraculaN Season 2, FlyQuest took on Basement Bos in the Ro16. The series started on Dust2, one of FlyQuest's stronger maps. jks and regali propelled the Aussies to a solid 6-1 start on the T-side but could not capitalize as Basement Boys quickly came up with a counter-strat to keep at FlyQuest at bay as the Aussies fumbled an early 6-1 lead to settle for a 7-5 half. FlyQuest sprinted to match point right out the gate in the second half at 12-5. Basement Boys put up four rounds in a row but fell right before hitting double figures, giving FlyQuest a 13-9 win on Dust2.
Heading into Train, picked by Basement Boys, the Ukrainian core was a step ahead from the get-go. levantino's Glock triple kill set the tone for Basement Boys, netting consequent anti-eco and bonus conversions. FlyQuest even conceded their first gun round, fumbling a man advantage in a B-site retake. INS mowed down three with the MP9, putting FlyQuest on the board at 4-1 and Vexite landed back to back multi-frag rounds to close the gap at 4-3. Going down 5-7 on the CT-side, FlyQuest levelled the score with pistol and anti-eco wins on the T-side. Once the gun rounds began, Basement Boys wreaked havoc on the Aussies, taking a 13-8 win on Train off a strong CT-half, levelling the series at 1-1.
The decider took us to Mirage where FlyQuest started the CT-side and after initial back and forth rounds, Basement Boys emerged ahead in the force buy war, putting FlyQuest in their rear view mirror, speeding off to an 8-4 T-side half. levantino and polbandana put up ADRs in excess of 100 and consecutive mult-frag rounds, as FlyQuest's CT-side defense crumbled. Pistol and anti-eco wins on the T-side set FlyQuest on course-correct but Basement Boys bounced back, fending off FlyQuest's aggressive site-splits. An INS Galil quad kill kept FlyQuest in the game after Basement boys hit match point at 12-8.
FlyQuest did push the map into overtime but Basement Boys stood the test of fire with levantino and polbandana going berserk. Basement Boys closed Mirage 16-14, winning their first official Bo3 of the season. FlyQuest head down to the lower bracket, as Basement Boys head into the upper-bracket quarter-finals.
