CS2 completes two years since launch

CS2 turns two

Our favourite game, CS2, has officially blown out the candles on its second birthday today. Launched on 27th September 2023, it has continued to grow, whether it is in terms of gameplay experience, player count, or skin economy.

The game when launched, was a home to several game-breaking bugs and exploits, like Michael Jackson peeks, flying ragdolls, jump bugs, etc. The new sub-tick received outrage both from the players and the community, and people speculated if the game would drop in playerbase.

However, the game stood strong, breaking their own records as time progressed. First in March 2024, CS2 reached a player count of 1.5 million, which then increased to 1.8 million in May 2025. The skin economy has also continued to surge, crossing $5.5 billion last month. This year also saw some of the biggest updates to the gameplay, improving the anti-cheat, trust-factor, movement, graphics, and shooting. The game feels far better than it did at launch, though there is still room for further improvement.

In the competitive world, CS2 has been featured in three Majors. First at PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major 2024, where NAVI defeated FaZe Clan in the Grand-Final. Then at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2025, where FaZe Clan once again lost the final, this time to Spirit. And finally the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, where Vitality emerged victorious.

Two years in, CS2 is stronger than ever breaking records, hosting massive tournaments, and pulling in fans by the millions. And if these first two years are any sign, the road ahead promises to be legendary.
