ESIC suspends five Swedish players
Through a press release, ESIC has announced that it would hand out provisional suspensions to players of the team Northern Lights due to reports of "severe breaches of the ESIC Integrity Program". ESIC came swinging down with an investigation right after the team was banned by Elitserien for match-fixing and cheating. The starting five who have received these suspensions are:
Axelen
Meinz
Avoy
Fraaank
frigolito
The prior investigation by Elitserien resulted in Avoy, Fraaank and frigolito receiving 1-year bans for match-fixing while the other two- Axelen and meinz were banned permanently for cheating on top of match-fixing. Meinz was also featured in HLTV's first ever prospect report back a little over a month ago.
The interim suspension has been imposed in line with ESIC’s Codes and standard practice where evidence warrants protective action during live investigations. The matters under review concern potential violations of the Anti-Corruption Code and provisions of the Code of Conduct. ESIC emphasizes that an interim sanction is not a final determination of wrongdoing.
