Pick'Ems in shambles after 2 rounds of play at Stage 1 of the Budapest Major

Counter-Strike's winter Major- StarLadder Budapest 2025 kicked off yesterday. After an eventful opening round's play, many of the favorites to clear a 3-0 opening stage fell in the 1-1 pool. After taking down a popular 3-0 pick, Legacy in the opening round, FlyQuest tore down Imperial and have set up a qualification match in the 2-0 pool against Fluxo. The Aussies are now just a single best-of-three win away from clearing a flawless opening stage and advancing to the next stage of the Major.

The popular 3-0 pick, Legacy will take on Red Canids, a popular 0-3 pick, in the 1-1 pool. GamerLegion, also one of the favorites to clear the opening stage at the least, if not in a flawless manner have tumbled down to the 0-2 pool after losses against Fluxo and Red Canids. GamerLegion take on Chinese team Rare Atom with their Major lifeline in question. Rare Atom found themself in the 0-1 pool after a narrow 11-13 loss to Imperial in the opening round and then flunked out against Legacy in the 0-1 pool.

M80 and NRG have been the talking points of the opening stage so far. NRG took down FaZe in the second round while M80 sent Jame's PARIVISION down to the 1-1 pool. M80 and NRG will lock horns in the 2-0 pool confirming a 3-0 progression for one of them. PARIVISION will take on B8 and FaZe will take on Ninjas in Pyjamas in the 1-1 pool.
