FACEIT Season 8 starts with a big ban wave

FACEIT Season 8 is here with a list of changes and a soft Elo reset across the board. Cache's addition to FACEIT's map pool has ben a big talking point so far but day one started with a bang. A day before the update was rolled out, FACEIT nuked over 23,000 accounts today- all for smurfing. FACEIT's rampant smurfing problem has always plagued the experience for lower ranked players.

While some rejoice and mention Elo reversals, many claim that the ban wave dealt with just a small portion of the smurfing spectrum, pointing out how the players that they reported for smurfing are still around in FACEIT's matchmaking. A few have even accused FACEIT of labelling cheating bans as griefing bans to sweep a potential cheaters infestation under the rug.
