FACEIT reveals Season 7's ban numbers
Season 7 of FACEIT concluded over a week ago and the platform has revealed statistics related to bans handed out during the season. The integrity report reveals that 74,715 accounts were banned during season 7 for cheating, smurfing, boosting, ban evading, and platform abuse which is a 22% increase over season 6.
FACEIT rolled out a number of security requirements including TPM during season 7 and has confirmed its intent to double down on selfie re-checks and active anti-cheat connections during the same to validate the process. Just before Season 8 began, FACEIT banned over 23,000 accounts for smurfing and reverted Elo to affected parties.
The number of bans under all categories sees a sharp increase with AI cheats seeing a 272% increase in total bans over the last season. "We anticipate that AI cheats will become a major category of cheating in gaming over the coming years as AI continues to improve", says FACEIT. Whether these numbers indicate FACEIT anti-cheat's improvements or an increase in the number of cheaters is unclear.
