Unique grassroots level Indian CS initiative surfaces on Facebook

The events in question are based in Mumbai

Over the last three years, Indian Counter-Strike saw a massive influx in the form of organizations, teams and tournament organizers but as time went by, so did the organizers one after the other. Organizers entering and exiting the competitive esports space is not new but the manner in which these TOs left the scene after piling up controversies event after event, led to organizations dropping their Counter-Strike rosters as well. After the dust settled, Indian Counter-Strike has not been the loudest so far, this year.

While many tournament organizers threw around the "Grassroots" buzzword and claimed to build something from the ground up, none committed to the grind and ended up prioritizing lucrative sponsors who came with counterproductive demands.

However, a much closer grassroots-style Counter-Strike initiative surfaced in the "Counter-Strike India Community" on Facebook yesterday. The initiative is currently based in and around South Mumbai. A member of the Counter-Strike group 0Ping who identified himself as Ahmed "stiFler" Amin, posted about Counter-Strike tournaments revolving around local talent with fictional player auctions.

stiFler explains how the tournaments work and expresses intent towards hosting Counter-Strike 2 events in the near future alongside the usual Counter-Strike 1.6 tournaments. He also calls out "like-minded" players and sponsors to join the initiative in Mumbai. The tournament called "Fight Night: CS For the Real Ones" has completed four iterations so far with the most recent one having concluded in July 2025. A new tournament is on the cards, named "Power League" and the organizer has posted a video on YouTube, covering the auction process.
