Bhavi 'I don't think we are even close to our peak'

Gods Reign's IGL talks about recent NESC 2024 triumph

Gods Reign dispatched of True Rippers in the National Esports Championship (NESC) 2024 CS2 to win the Indian qualifiers and now will battle other Asian teams as they try to make their way all the way to Riyadh for the World Esports Championship 2024.

Following their NESC 2024, Gods Reign captain Bhavi took time out from his busy schedule to talk to us about Gods Reign's performance, where the team is right now and more.

Bhavi spoke about Gods Reign's immediate feelings after taking down True Rippers and mentioned that it got a bit stressful for India's #1 team. He also spoke about the mental barrier for some of the players, given that they had failed to cross the final hurdle a couple of times in the past and how that motivated them a bit more.

Fact box

For Bhavi himself, this was the first time he cleared the National Qualifiers after failing to do so in the past two editions while it was f1redup's fourth consecutive National Qualifier win.

Gods Reign had some struggles in the NESC 2024 CS2, starting slow in multiple games and having to reverse sweep the series to continue forward. Bhavi, though, wasn't too worried about this, he in fact spoke about Gods Reign's strong starts in ESEA games but then not being able to capitalise on that and mentioned that they will need to work on that and be more clinical in closing out games when starting with a big lead.

Do you think the team is performing at its highest level or do you still think there is room for improvement? If there is room for improvement, what do you think is the biggest change/fix Gods Reign needs immediately ?

I don't think we are even close to our peak, it's been slightly more then 2 months with me in the team and I think as time goes by we can show our true potential.

Speaking about the South Asian Qualifiers, Bhavi was confident about putting up a better show and even made a bold prediction.

We are really confident, I don't think any team will be close to our level of CS which we will bring to the event I am sure we are gonna make all the way to China (for the IESF Asian Esports Championship 2024).

Moving away from the NESC 2024 CS2, Bhavi also spoke about the recent change in the Active Duty Map Pool, which saw Dust2 replace Overpass. Bhavi said while personally he was a fan of Overpass and was expecting Vertigo or another map to move out, Bhavi said it is a good change with Dust2 coming in given that he has two prolific AWPers in reV3nnnn and f1redup in his arsenal.
