SemperFi fights off a resilient FengDa to make semi-finals at EPL S22 Asia Closed Qualifier
SemperFi saw off a strong challenge from Chinese team FengDa in their ESL Pro League Season 22 Asia Closed Qualifier upper bracket quarter-final game with the Australian team sealing a 2-0 win to move into the semi-finals.
SemperFi and FengDa kicked off their series with a barn burner on Ancient. With neither team willing to give each other an inch, a tied score in regulation saw the map move to overtime where SemperFi finally kept it clean to steal a 16-13 win with Valiance stepping up with 27 kills. FengDa raced away to a 5-1 start on their T side on Dust2 before the Australian team kept it to a two round half. The second half was much more tight with a trade of rounds seeing the score tied up at 10-10.
It was an aliStair saved AWP and one M4A1-S from keen saw SemperFi steal their 11th thanks to Valiance's double on the Five-Seven. A keen mow down at Short eventually closed out yet another tight map with SemperFi taking a 13-10 win to seal the 2-0 series win. Valiance was the star of the show for SemperFi, ending the series with 44 kills and a 1.30 rating. aliStair, the team's new AWPer also had a big recovery on the second map, after going without a kill on the T side on Dust2 with the Big Green, the AWPer stepped up with crucial impact on SemperFi's defensive side to see them close the series in two.
SemperFi's win sees them move into the upper bracket semi-final where they await the winner of the HOTU-IHC game while FengDa drop to the lower bracket and will be fighting for elimination against the loser of the same game.
