CAC 2025 slots modified again
Through a post on X, Perfect World has updated the team list for their upcoming CS Asia Championships 2025. Adding a tenth slot for invites, MIBR gets a direct slot at the main event, marking the organizer's second change to the tournament's additional information. Perfect World's deviation from Valve's tournament guidelines has been criticized by many, including Complexity's General Manager Graham Pitt.
Valve's tournament guidelines state that the "Invite Date must follow the announcement of Additional Information by no fewer than 30 days", bringing Perfect World's recent changes under scrutiny. "With more slot changes they should now be on the September VRS" said Graham Pitt in his post on X. Perfect World has initially announced two Chinese slots, one of which now goes to MIBR leaving one slot for an Asian team. Despite FaZe not being eligible for an invite, Valve cleared them for a wildcard invite for being a former CAC winner.
Alongside ten invited teams, four slots are handed out to Europe through qualifiers while Asia and Americas get one each. Carrying a $1,000,000 USD prize pool, CS Asia Championships 2025 will bring sixteen teams to Shanghai, China for a five day LAN starting on 14th October 2025. The group stage will host a double elimination bracket across two groups, sending the top three from each group into a six-team single-elimination playoffs, concluding with a bo5 grand-final.
The Asian qualifier for the event will take four sub-regions into consideration- China, East Asia, Oceania and Others.
