The MongolZ stunned by HOTU to start their ESL Pro League Season 22 campaign
The MongolZ had a shocking start to their ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage 2 campaign as they went down 1-2 to HOTU in what was the day's biggest shock. HOTU, who qualified to ESL Pro League Season 22 through the Asian qualifier, continued their impressive run after a stellar Stage 1 campaign and took down the #1 team in not only Asia but the world.
The Russian team's pick of Overpass got the series underway and it was a 5-0 start on the T side for HOTU before The MongolZ managed to get on the board. Despite putting up a strong fight towards the end of their CT half and picking up the T side pistol and conversions to take the lead of the map at 8-7, HOTU closed out Overpass of the back of six straight CT rounds that saw them start with a 13-8 win.
The trio of Techno, 910 and Senzu saw The MongolZ get their pick of Mirage going with momentum on the T side early on and despite a valiant comeback attemp it was young mzinho making sure The MongolZ took the series to a decider, as a 1v3 from mzinho saw The MongolZ lock in a 13-10 win.
frontales' AWP along with n0rb3r7 helped HOTU pick up a big 8-4 lead on their CT half on Ancient and despite the best efforts from Senzu it was HOTU with a 13-9 win to seal the series 2-1. The MongolZ have dropped to the 0-1 bracket and will face Inner Circle next while HOTU is set to take on donk and co. in Spirit.
