FACEIT's pre-season update brings tighter verification checks
In a significant update before the beginning of Season 7, FACEIT deployed an array of security features in an attempt to combat the rampant cheating and smurfing problem on the platform. The platform now enforces tighter verfications checks for premium matchmaking. "We are scaling our integrity review process, starting with a series of manual reviews of our highest-ranked players, where selected high-Elo players may be asked to verify their account history via video call or, in rare cases, a supervised play session." said FACEIT about players dropping into high Elo lobbies out of nowhere.
A new "veteran-only" matchmaking supposedly ensures that every player in the lobby meets a threshold for the amount of matches played on FACEIT. This feature is available to premium subscribers only. ID re-verifications are introduced to take down accounts that were bought from verified holders or verified using invalid identities. Premium matchmaking gets two hefty upgrades in terms of requirements-
-
Requirement 1: Higher minimum match count: We have replaced the old flat 30-match rule with a new Veteran requirement that scales with your skill level, from 50 matches for Lvl1-4, up to 600 matches for 2500+ Elo level 10 players. Players must now reach the Veteran threshold for their level, proving their experience on FACEIT before they can access the queue.
-
Requirement 2: ID verification now mandatory: ID verification is moving from optional to required. Every player in Premium Match must be verified, ensuring that all accounts in this queue have a confirmed identity.
The update also brings a reworked reporting system, allowing players to submit detailed reports with better context, clearly classifying genuine reports from low-effort spams. The 10-minute report window has now been extended to six hours encouraging players to write more "informative" reports.
Before, players could only type in text and not link any evidence to provide context to their report. Now, players can pinpoint the exact round the offense took place, upload screenshots, link videos, and add comments. As previously stated, the higher quality your report is, the bigger the chances it gets prioritized and the offender sees their punishment more quickly.
