device parts ways with Astralis (again)

Magisk also set to depart

Following a stage 2 exit at the StarLadder Budapest 2025 Major, Astralis are set to make crucial changes to their Counter-Strike roster. Decorated Danish AWP device is set to leave Astralis again alongside Magisk. After a stellar run with Astralis from 2016 to 2021, device was the first Astralis piece to deboard, joining NiP to mark the end of the Astralis era. Having spent a whole year with NiP barely winning any notable event, device returned to Astralis in 2022 and the Danish team has managed to win just a couple of online B-tier events over the past three years.

device is now on track to reunite with his former Astralis IGL and four-time Major winner gla1ve at 100Theives. 100T installed gla1ve as their head coach after picking up rain.

Leaving Astralis once again has not been an easy decision. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the fans who have followed the journey since it all began back in 2016.

Meanwhile, Magisk spent a couple of productive years with Vitality, adding yet another Major trophy to his cabinet at Paris 2023 and then transferred over to Falcons, playing a vital role in their only S-tier event win till date at PGL Bucharest 2025. When Stavn stepped down from Astralis this September, Magisk was brought in to round off the roster reuniting him with device. At the time, the community held nothing back, joking about the possibility of Astralis bringing back the trio of gla1ve, dupreeh and xyp9x to get back on track.

I have immense respect for both Nicolai (device) and Emil (Magisk), who have both given their all to Astralis. They deserve all our deepest gratitiude and love.
Jonas Gundersen, CEO, Astralis

Since then, the deepest run they'd make in a tournament was a quarter-final exit at ESL Pro League Season 22. The disappointing second stage exit at the recently concluded Budapest Major has now fueled Astralis to rebuild while still keeping their core to maintain their VRS position. Jonas Gundersen the CEO of Astralis hinted at the organization's future where they open their main Counter-Strike roster to the International talent pool. "We are not limiting ourselves to a single market when recruiting new players. We are in a phase where we will continue to build throughout 2026.", said the Astralis CEO after affirming the org's Danish identity at it's core.
