Some of the world's best Counter-Strike players might be currently in action in Romania, battling it out at the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 tournament but there a unique Counter-Strike story from the other side of the world in China. Reported recently on social, 59-year old Chinese stream, known as 'Auntie Juan' recently had gone viral for her Counter-Strike skills, even taking on some of the world's best in the server.
The story shared by Sixth Tone, puts Auntie Juan in focus and talks about her incredible story, becoming a streamer in her mid-50s. Zhong "Auntie Juan" Juanjuan, who is a Chinese stream, started streaming during the COVID-19 pandemic, in her mid-50s and hasn't looked back since. Hailing from Meizhou, Guangdong, Auntie Juan was introduced to the game by her son Zhong "SOOD" Yingfeng, has it has become a part of her daily life since. During the pandemic, stuck at home, Auntie Juan didn't have much to do so she asked her son to introduce her to gaming.
She mentions that she has over 8,000 hours in Counter-Strike and aside from Valve's FPS shooter, she also plays other games like Elden Ring, Call of Duty, Black Myth: Wukong and other racing titles amongst others. Her son introduced her to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, from not only teaching her how to move in-game but also crosshair placement and other in-game skills and when she started getting good at the game, some of the followers and viewers on her stream couldn't believe its her raking up the kills. So SOOD added a camera showcasing her hand movement as well, so during the stream people know its really her and don't have any misconceptions.
She went viral though, for her clip in an exhibition game where in a 'One-Shot Superman' show event where she was invited by Douyin( a Chinese TikTok streamer), she tapped out two of the top players in the world currently, Team Spirit's donk and sh1ro.
"Before the match, I thought to myself, if I'm playing this, I have to stay calm. They're professional players - it's a different mindset from normal games. You have to be serious and cautious"

Her son also mentions how mother and son now have a newfound connection over CS2 and gaming and how that's brought them closer.
"Back then(prior to her starting to game), our communication was just basic life stuff - what to eat, checking in on each other. There wasn't any really deep conversation," says SOOD. 'Having a common language with your parents is a wonderful thing for children."
"After I started gaming, we had more to talk about. If I didn't understand a meme, I'd ask him. I'd always say, "SOOD, waht's this?" says Auntie Juan.
Auntie Juan also mentions how she never expected to fall in love with gaming and how its helped her remain happy as she gets older. Through her gaming, she has gotten to travel around China, to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu amongst other places, and she hopes that she can keep playing games into her 80s.
