FlyQuest, Rare Atom post dominant lower bracket wins
The second round of the lower bracket at the CS Asia Championships 2026 Asia closed qualifier came to an end today. Rare Atom who were knocked down to the lower bracket by Alter Ego took on DEPO. The series started on DEPO's map pick of Mirage but it was Rare Atom who looked more comfortable on the CT-side. The Chinese side walked away with a 7-5 lead in the first half and then went 6-3 in the second half to close Mirage 13-8.
The second map was Dust2 and DEPO started on the CT-side with pistol and anti-eco wins but Rare Atom won denied them the bonus round. Off of the first gun round's momentum, Rare Atom sprinted to a significant 8-4 lead in the first half. A near-mirror second half saw DEPO win the pistol, anti-eco and then Rare Atom run away with the rest. The Chinese side secured a 13-8 win on Dust2 to lock in a 2-0 series win and a Round 3 slot in the lower bracket.
In the final game of the lower bracket's second round, FlyQuest took on FengDa. The Aussies hammered FengDa down to a 3-9 disadvantage, posting a solid CT-side on Dust2. The trio of Vexite, nettik and INS stole the show in the first half, completely dismantling FengDa's T-side setups. The Chinese side was able to secure just a single round in the second half as FlyQuest breezed past the finish line at 13-4. Vexite finished the map with 20 frags to his name at an ADR of 130 and a rating of 2.41.
The second map took us to Anubis and FlyQuest were handed a beating early on with FengDa winning out the T-side pistol, anti-eco and bonus rounds but the Aussies were far from going down without a fight. Once the gun rounds began, FlyQuest blew FengDa out of the water, winning nine consecutive rounds to flip the narrative in no time, ending the first half with a 9-3 lead. A flawless T-side saw FlyQuest close Anubis 13-3 and the series 2-0 to advance further in the lower bracket.
