
PGL Bucharest 2027 officially announced
PGL has officially announced that they will be returning to Romania in 2027 as they have revealed PGL Bucharest 2027, which will be the tournament organiser's first event of the year. PGL Bucharest 2027 is set to run between January 15 - January 24, 2027 with a prize pool of $1,400,000.
The tournament will have a total of 16 slots with 14 of them coming on the basis of VRS invites and two team will make their way to Romania through the European qualifiers. The invites will be based on the October 5, 2026 rankings while the open qualifiers will take place between October 11 - October 15, 2026 and the Closed Qualifier will take place between October 16-20, 2026.
The Open Qualifier will see two teams make it to the closed qualifier through a single elimination bracket which will feature BO3s from the quarter-finals and BO1s before that. The two teams making their way through from the open qualifier to the closed qualifier will be pitted with six more VRS invited teams in the closed qualifier with it following a double elimination BO3 format. The top two teams from the eight-team European closed qualifier will make it to the main event.
PGL hosted the Bucharest event 2025 which Falcons won, beating G2 in the final and the PGL Bucharest 2026 event is scheduled for October 24 - October 31, 2026 with a total prize pool of $1,250,000 on the line. Taking place at the start of 2027 will see PGL Bucharest 2027 start just a couple of day post the conclusion of BLAST Bounty 2027 Season 1, which is scheduled as the first Tier-1 event of 2027.
