The Huns qualify for PGL Astana 2026
The Asian qualifier for PGL Astana 2026 has come to a close and it was The Huns who posted a flawless 3-0 win in the grand-final of the Asian closed qualifier against DEPO. After clearing the West Asian qualifier, DEPO took down Ground Zero, the winner of the Oceanic qualifier but could not keep up against The Huns in the grand-final.
The grand-final began on DEPO's pick of Mirage where the Uzbekistani core fumbled an early lead to let The Huns run away with a flurry of rounds. Without single bomb plant in the last eight rounds of their T-side, DEPO conceded a slight 5-7 disadvantage at halftime and The Huns taking pistol and anti-eco wins in the second half did not make things easier. DEPO clawed back a trio of rounds towards the end but The Huns closed Mirage 13-9.
The Huns grew stronger if anything going into the second map, handing DEPO a 4-8 deficit, bagging a big lead on their T-side. A flawless second half saw the Mongolian side discard DEPO with ease, securing a two-map lead after their 13-4 win on Inferno. DEPO looked down and out in the third map, Dust2, but a late-half resurgence from sh1seido kept them in the game at 5-7. After dropping the pistol and anti-eco rounds, The Huns dominated the gun rounds to hit match point at 12-7 and close the map at 13-9.
The Huns clinched a convincing 3-0 sweep in the grand-final, sending home DEPO to confirm their PGL Astana 2026 slot. The main event will take place in Kazakhstan in the second week of May with player and club shares of $800,000 USD each in the prize pool.
