
The MongolZ fall to Astralis to miss out on flawless run to Playoffs in Bucharest
The MongolZ's flawless run at the ongoing PGL Bucharest 2026 came to an end at the hands of Astralis as HooXi and co. took down the Asian powerhouses 2-0 in their Playoffs advancement game with The MongolZ failing to make Playoffs with a clean 3-0 record. The MongolZ, though, still have two chance to make Playoffs in Bucharest and now sit in the 2-1 bracket.
The MongolZ's pick of Mirage was the series opener in the swiss round 3 game with jabbi and ryu powering Astralis to a 6-0 start. The MongolZ found three T rounds and that was about all they could manage as Astralis stormed to a 13-4 win to draw first blood in the series. The MongolZ had a promising start to Ancient as a force buy win on the CT side saw them go 7-1 up post the conversion but a strong CT half from Astralis brought them back into the game and a lackluster T side from bLitz's boys saw Astralis fight back from being 2-8 down to take a 13-9 win as Staehr stepped up with 21 kills and a 1.61 rating performance.
It was an off day for the entire squad of The MongolZ as barring Techno not a single player from The MongolZ finished with a rating of above 0.93. The loss has now dropped The MongolZ to the 2-1 bracket and they will take on Wildcard today to book a place in the Playoffs. Astralis meanwhile went through to the Playoffs with a flawless 3-0 record.
