Singapore Major to feature a 3rd place decider
The second Major of 2026 will take place towards the end of November as PGL brings a Counter-Strike Major to Singapore for the first time. Through a post on X, the tournament organizer announced crucial details and changes to Counter-Strike's biggest stage. The PGL Singapore 2026 Major will host a third place decider match which came as a welcome change given the importance of the event.
The VRS cut-off date for the invitations was also revealed and it is much closer to the start of the Major than than before. Usually, organizers would dispatch invites a couple of months before the start of the Major but for PGL Singapore 2026 there is less than a month's gap between the invitations date and the start of the Major. The VRS cut off for the event is on 2nd November 2026 and the Major begins on 24th November 2026.
...this short of a period would never work for USA, potentially not for China and others for example. I think Valve need to commit to sharing the locations of the majors, and the cutoffs, before the deadline of announcing Tier 1 events for that year.
