
ESL tightens co-streaming guidelines
Counter-Strike's viewership numbers have been stronger than ever, breaking new ceilings almost every other event. S-tier Counter-Strike strike draws millions of viewers on average with a good chunk coming from a bunch of co-streamers. ESL has just released their updated co-streaming guidelines which has already come under ruthless criticism by the community. The new guidelines touch all the broader topics in the first few clauses including prohibiting co-streamers from "disparaging" ESL or its affiliates.
Things get sterner as we move down the guidelines with ESL introducing the "Always-on coverage" clause. ESL will now restrict co-streamers from switching to other streams or "just chatting" while a tournament is in progress. ESL mentions that this particular clause aims "to eliminate audience leakage and maintain narrative integrity".
ESL also rewrote their visual specifications and will now enforce the 5% webcam rule. Personal sponsors, co-hosts and many other topics were addressed. Check out the complete release through the following link:
