Extra prize money on the line for team that denies Vitality's Grand Slam
IEM Rio kicks off today in a couple of hours and all eyes are on Vitality as the French organization eyes their second ESL Grand Slam. Vitality have been on song since early 2025, winning out nearly every tournament they have attended, breaking record after record. However, their upcoming IEM Rio campaign has much more on the line.
Vitality are currently one ESL Pro Tour event win away from locking in their second ESL Grand Slam. Through a post on X, ESL has points out the reward for denying Vitality the million-dollar award. If Vitality reaches the grand-final and their opponent successfully deny them a Grand Slam win, they walk away with an additional $100,000 USD alongside their prescribed prize money.
So far no team has denied a Grand Slam win in the grand-final and secured the "giant killer" bonus. Vitality's opening game at IEM Rio comes against the home team, RED Canids. The double-elimination bracket in group A also houses Spirt and Falcons alongside Vitality.
