PGL Astana opening matchups revealed

PGL Astana 2026 is all set to kick off this weekend as the tournament organizer takes to X to reveal the opening matchups. The group stage consisting of sixteen teams will begin on 9th May 2026 and The MongolZ will take on magic who will make their S-tier LAN debut at PGL Astana. Following PGL Astana, The MongolZ will play just one LAN- CS Asia Championships before the IEM Cologne Major.

The new-look Falcons with karrigan at the helm will also debut at PGL Astana 2026 as a big part of the community awaits the NiKo-karrigan reunion. The Huns face an uphill climb from the get-go, taking on Spirit in their opening match. Here's how the opening round has shaped up at PGL Astana 2026:

The group stage of PGL Astana 2026 will run a Swiss system iteration where teams with three wins advance to the next playoffs and teams with three loses bow out of the tournament. The playoff will feature eight teams in a single-elimination best-of-three bracket with a best-of-three grand-final. Teams like FURIA, Aurora and Spirit are playing their last LAN before heading into the IEM Cologne Major and will look to make full use of the event to refine their game for the Major.
