
de_cache's real life inspirations surface online
After an entire year of anticipation, de_cache was finally added to Counter-Strike 2 last week. The map was a big hit back in the Global Offensive days and also the franchise's most iconic representation of the Chernobyl exclusion area/zone. Set in Pripyat, Ukraine- de_cache's lore was to secure a hidden weapons cache in the exclusion area and hence the name.
The Counter-Strike 2 iteration of the map which was likely built from scratch boasts breathtaking visuals and comes with several close imitations of real life locations near the disastrous nuclear facility. The famous Ferris wheel and a distant view of Chernobyl's Reactor 4 sarcophagus are among the most popular real life replications in de_cache.
After de_cache's addition to Counter-Strike 2, a reddit user by the handle u/Loxaris dished out images of several real-life locations that the new de_cache features.
