IEM Cologne 2026 Major Stage 1: Preview

The first Major of 2026 begins tomorrow as Counter-Strike's most important tournament returns to Cologne after ten years. IEM Cologne 2026 Major starts with sixteen teams in a Swiss system iteration, sending teams with three wins into the next stage. Stage 1 begins with best-of-ones and switches to best-of-threes for progression and elimination matches.

TYLOO, Lynn Vision, FlyQuest and THUNDERdOWNUNDER secured Stage 1 invites through the Asian VRS and will be in action tomorrow. Gamer Legion is the only top 10 team in Stage 1. A total of seventeen players will make their Major debuts in Stage 1 with Sharks and SINNERS entirely composed of debutants. THUNDERdOWNUNDER takes on a formidable opponent in MIBR who has recently bagged wins against B8, PARIVISION and 3DMAX while the former has not faced a single team outside the Asia-Pacific region in the last twelve weeks. BetBoom are among the top picks for a 3-0 first stage given their recent wins against Vitality, paIN and B8 while their opponent in the opening round- Gaimin Gladiators are a popular 0-3 pick.
