FlyQuest's 3-0 dreams dashed by HEROIC
After a flawless opening day at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Stage 1, which saw FlyQuest go 2-0 up, the Australian team were brought down to Earth after a 1-2 loss at the hands of HEROIC in their 2-0 bracket game. The win for HEROIC also means that they become the first team from Stage 1 to qualify for Stage 2.
HEROIC's defence thanks to some impactful multi-kill rounds from tN1R early on saw LNZ and co. go 9-1 up on their CT side on Ancient. A B hit with a triple from from nettik saw the Australian team put up their second round and back-to-back B hits saw them end the opening half with three T sides. Despite winning the second pistol, conversion and Vexite clutching a crucial 1v3 on the B site, FlyQuest were unable to stick the comeback as HEROIC locked in a 13-7 win.
A couple of B hits early on saw FlyQuest start HEROIC's pick of Anubis with a 3-0 start before HEROIC responded immediately as they brought out the guns. A five round streak helped FlyQuest put up a 9-3 T side. Despite dropping the second pistol, HEROIC fought back with a strong T side thanks to LNZ's 1v2 with a Tec-9 on the force, going on to tie up the score at 11-11.A crucial INS double on a force buy put FlyQuest on map point and the Australians held on for a 13-11 win.
Late impact from nettik saw FlyQuest tie up the opening half on Mirage on their T side before the HEROIC locked in both pistols on the decider and raced away to a 13-6 lead with SunPayus AWP taking control of the map late on. HEROIC's win sees them become the first team to make Stage 2 from Stage 1 and while FlyQuest's 3-0 dreams might have been dashed the Australian team still have two chances to make it through to the next stage.
