Liquid crashed out of the Austin Major with just a single map win

Twistzz amplifies the MR12 economy issue

Twistzz rants on X

Counter-Strike's first season of 2025 has concluded with the BLAST.tv Austin 2025 Major as the players head into the player break. Its that time of the year where Counter-Strike gets a pretty significant post-Major update, often addressing glaring issues that popped out during the Major, introducing map pool changes and the rare content update.

The MR12 economy has been a talking point for quite a while now. In fact, ESL took a dig at the impact pistol rounds would have on the outcome of MR12 matches way back in September 2023. The debate continues to this day and following the Major's conclusion, Liquid's Twistzz has taken to X, expressing his opinions on the current state of MR12s and the economy.

A disappointing campaign at the Austin Major saw the NA org flunk out with a 0-3 run in Stage 3 after losses to Lynn Vision, The MongolZ and MOUZ.

"Before any map pool changes happen, MR12 and the economy needs to be revaluated.", says Twistzz in his post on X before suggesting the addition of a fifth round's loss bonus and increasing the price of the notorious T-side Galil-AR. A vast part of the community agreed with Twistzz with some suggesting a dual format where bo1s are MR15s and bo3s are MR12s.

Twistzz further reinforces his views in the comments, stating that MR15s would often bring out a team's full play book on the map, showing a level of tactical depth that is just not possible in MR12s. Speaking about the length of games in the old MR15 format, Twistzz said that he as a player never felt that it was too long. "My personal opinion is that MR15 was better and they found what really worked.", said Twistzz to conclude his post.
