Playoffs begin tomorrow

The group stage of FISSURE Playground 2 has come to a close. A full 3-map series between paIN and Virtus.pro marked the conclusion of the Swiss system group stage. The playoffs, starting tomorrow, 19th September 2025 will host a ruthless single-elimination bo3 bracket concluding with a bo5 grand-final. With three of the four quarter-final matchups taking place tomorrow, the single-elimination bracket spans over the entire weekend. The tournament carries a $1,250,000 USD prize pool and crucial VRS weightage.

The MongolZ will face G2 in the first quarter-final game and will be something to look forward to, given that both these teams are came into FISSURE Playground 2 off of S-tier title wins at their previous events. The MongolZ recently won the Esports World Cup while G2 secured a title win at BLAST Open London 2025. Both, G2 and The MongolZ cleared the group stage from the 3-1 pool. With kyousuke and NiKo firing on all cylinders, Falcons seem to have their system in place, clearing the group stage with a flawless 3-0 record.

The other 3-0 team in the group stage was Aurora, with XANTARES being the team's highest rated player in the tournament so far. Aurora started their tournament with a win against Astralis and then sent defending champions TYLOO down to the 1-1 pool. Then the Turks took down FaZe to book mark their 3-0 and book a high-seed playoffs spot. Aurora takes on Liquid and Falcons takes on paIN in their quarter-final matchups.

Liquid's tournament has been a roller coaster so far. After losing to FURIA and GamerLegion the North American org tumbled down to the 0-2 pool. Fighting with all their grit, Liquid put up narrow 2-1 wins over HEROIC and TYLOO to set up their qualification match against FaZe. Twistzz going up against the team he is bound for, topped the charts with a 1.61 rating performance, taking Liquid into the playoffs over FaZe. While paIN did not take the scenic route, they too ended up in the 2-2 pool and sent Virtus.pro home to book their playoffs appearance.

Down 1-2, Staehr and device powered Astralis to convincing wins over Legacy and GamerLegions, clearing the group stage with a 3-2 record alongside paIN and Liquid. Taking down Liquid and G2, FURIA was handed a 0-2 loss against Aurora off of a 1.74 rating series from XANTARES. In the 2-1 pool, FURIA emerged ahead in a Brazilian derby with a 2-0 to clear the group stage from the 3-1 pool and set up their quarter-final match against Astralis.
