Transit removed from the map pool following hidden slur and unauthorized in-game Ads
Just two days after adding the new map Transit to the map pool, Valve silently removed it in their latest update yesterday, without providing any official reason for the removal.
This sent the community into a wave of speculation, trying to piece together why the map was taken down and soon, the story began to unfold. Players first discovered the n-word in the game files, which was followed by the developer coming out to admit his mistake.
He stated that he is upset about how Valve didn't notify any developers before removing the map, when the slur string could be removed within five minutes. He also expressed his remorse, stating that the fault of one entity should not punish other developers like Rainless and Geom, who have great projects ahead of them.
Later, other revelations came into picture. Some suggested that the removal was tied to free advertisement through a picture of the building of a crypto project named FPI bank, which is visible in the back.
There were also reports of an easter egg related to the video game Stray, which can be found in the map. There are five missing cat posters, and after interacting with all five, you can see a cat ziplining across the map. People from the community have suggested this could also be one of the reasons for the removal.
