Thunderpick World Championship 2025 opening matches announced

Thunderpick World Championship 2025 begins next week on Wednesday, 15th October 2025 and the tournament organizer has just announced the opening round matchups. In the second match of the tournament, The MongolZ, the only Asian team in the mix will take on 9z. FISSURE Playground 2 champions FURIA will play in the tournament opener against OG. FURIA will take stage tomorrow at the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 22 and face Vitality in the quarter-final with Spirit and FaZe on the other side of their bracket.

The MongolZ nearly recovered from a 0-2 deficit in the group stage but fell short in the 2-2 pool, crashing out of ESL Pro League in the group stage. The Mongolian side will look to pick the pace up at Thunderpick World Championship 2025. The tournament carries a $850,000 USD prize pool with the winner taking home $200,000 USD prize money along with a club share of $300,000 USD. Thunderpick World Championship 2025 will host a double elimination bracket across eight teams split into two groups.

The top two teams from each group will head into the single-elimination bo3 playoffs concluding with a bo5 grand-final on 19th October 2025. The MongolZ, FURIA, Aurora and NAVI have bagged direct invites through the Global VRS while OG, Imperial, 9z and Venom booked their spots through the closed qualifier.
