FURIA book playoffs over The MongolZ
In Group A's winners' match at Thunderpick World Championship 2025, The Mongolz took on FURIA in a bo3. The MongolZ last faced FURIA in the grand-final of FISSURE Playground 2 and were denied the trophy after FalleN's team won the bo5. The series started on Dust2 with The MongolZ on the CT-side. After winning the pistol and anti-eco, The MongolZ struggled on the CT-side, netting FURIA a 7-5 half.
The MongolZ returned the favor in the second half, mirroring FURIA's T-side run, pushing the map into overtime. The MongolZ secured match point at 15-13 but fumbled the two-round buffer as FURIA forced a second overtime where the Brazilian side went 4-0 to close Dust2 19-15 and take a 1-0 lead in the series. Senzu and 910 topped the charts for The MongolZ with 28 and 25 frags to their name but FURIA's individuals were right up there with four of them dropping 25+ frags.
Mirage started well for The MongolZ with Techno and bLitz firing on all cylinders. A fearless T-side display saw The MongolZ secure an 8-4 lead in the first half and secured double digits right out the gate in the second half. yuurih and KSCERATO quickly clawed back a handful of rounds in FURIA's favor closing the gap at 9-10. YEKINDAR who had been quiet for the majority of Mirage came alive towards the end, scoring round winning entries round after round as The MongolZ fumbled a 10-4 lead and ended up conceding Mirage 13-11.
The MongolZ will get another shot at making the playoffs in the lower-final where they either face OG or 9z.
