
YouTube set to ban gray-area gambling site ads
YouTube buckles up as the video streaming giant looks to ban gambling sites or content that is not certified by google and involves trading items that directly or indirectly hold real world monitory value. The decision comes after Twitch took a swing at gray-area gambling a while back, banning unregulated gambling sites dealing in game items like Counter-Strike cosmetics.
We’re expanding our enforcement to now cover online gambling with additional items that have monetary value, including digital goods.

Addressing existing content, YouTube warns creators that videos advertising such sites or practices could receive takedowns or strikes. However, if these videos would remain untouched if they are age-restricted. Counter-Strike gambling has been on the rise and prolific content creators like Coffeezilla have spoken about wide spread gambling problems within the community. Another recent gambling related controversy involves Boston Major champion Stewie2K who allegedly gambled away tens of thousands worth of Counter-Strike 2 skins.
