controlez shines on debut for The MongolZ
It was a successful debut for controlez as he donned The MongolZ jersey for the first time with The MongolZ beating HEROIC in their opening game at IEM Chengdu 2025. controlez lead the comeback for The MongolZ, who lost the opening map and had to reverse sweep HEROIC. controlez powered The MongolZ to a win on Inferno following which Asia's best team found their rhythm and closed out the series with ease on Ancient.
HEROIC kicked off their pick of Overpass with the T pistol that saw them go on a five-round streak before a controlez triple got The MongolZ on the board. After four in a row from The MongolZ, LNZ opened up the B site which saw HEROIC get back to winning ways. HEROIC ended the half to take four-round lead.
The MongolZ picked up a big pistol on the T side but LNZ with the Five-Seven helped HEROIC steal a force buy. 910 with a hero AK got The MongolZ answering back with the force and it was impact from the Mongolian AWP-er early on that saw The MongolZ tie up the score at 9-9. LNZ's pistol opened up another upgraded pistol win for HEROIC on the B site as xfl0ud wiped out The MongolZ to retake the lead but The MongolZ kept trading rounds. The MongolZ eventually ran out of steam as HEROIC held on for a 13-10 win with LNZ on top of the scoreboard with 25 kills.
A mid-brawl saw a nilo and xfl0ud double hand HEROIC the opening pistol on The MongolZ's pick of Inferno. xfl0ud picked up an ace in the eco round before an A hit with Techno and mzinho opening up the site saw The MongolZ get on board in the third round. A messy half saw controlez help The MongolZ take a two round lead with The MongolZ's newest signing coming in with big impactful multi-kill rounds.
controlez's quad kill gave The MongolZ a big CT side pistol and multi-kill after multi-kill from controlez saw The MongolZ close Inferno at 13-6, dropping just one CT round. controlez, unsurprisingly, top fragged on Inferno with 22 kills.

After four in a row from The MongolZ to start Ancient with Techno having a hot start, it was LNZ and xfl0ud getting HEROIC on the board. 910's AWP took control on the T side that saw The MongolZ pick up nine T rounds. Sharp shooting from mzinho saw The MongolZ shut out an attempted B hit and the young rifler continued to find impact as The MongolZ eased to a 13-5 win, closing out the series with hero rifle on bLitz. The Ancient win saw The MongolZ reverse sweep the series 2-1 and they are now one BO3 win away from making Playoffs. HEROIC meanwhile drop to the lower bracket and will fight for survival moving ahead.
