910's one-man show not enough for The MongolZ to beat Astralis
After a promising start at IEM Chengdu 2025 with debutant controlez, The MongolZ came crashing down to earth as they were beaten 0-2 by Astralis in their upper bracket semi-finals. The MongolZ were missing against the Danish squad and if it wasn't for 910's heroics, it would've been a much easier win for Astralis.
Nuke kicked off with Magisk having a strong T side for the Danish squad on their pick to see them go 8-4 up after locking in the pistol and conversions. A scrappy second half saw The MongolZ, single-handedly carried by by 910 push it to all 24 rounds. A couple of low buys and crucial clutches saw Astralis hold on for a 13-11 win despite a 27 kill showing from 910.
It was only 910 stepping up for The MongolZ to get Inferno going and the Mongolian AWPer was doing it all, opening rounds, closing them to see The MongolZ manage to keep it a tied half despite dropping the pistol. A jabbi clutch in the second half pistol was crucial as Astralis raced away to a 11-6 start. A big round from mzinho on a B retake saw The MongolZ put up their first CT round and just when The MongolZ looked like they might start a comeback, it was a device double at Banana that was the final nail in the coffin and the veteran Danish AWPer found late impact to see Astralis close Inferno at 13-8.
The win puts Astralis in the Playoffs at IEM Chengdu 2025 while The MongolZ have fallen to the lower bracket and will need to battle out elimination to make the Playoffs.
