The MongolZ qualifies for Quarter-Finals after vanquishing Spirit
The MongolZ have defeated Spirit by a 2-1 scoreline, marking their first victory since IEM Cologne 2024 against the team to lock in playoffs at IEM Chengdu 2025.
The Bo3 kicked off on Dust2, where The MongolZ kicked off with a commanding CT side to take an 8-4 lead. As the sides switched, The MongolZ carried the same momentum to secure matchpoint at 12-4. Spirit retaliated with three consecutive retakes to delay the inevitable, but ended up losing the fourth round to concede a 13-7 loss.
donk, who couldn't find his footing on the first map, bounced back on Ancient with a 1.41 rated performance. It helped Spirit secure a 7-5 lead on the CT-side, and close out the map with a 19-16 overtime win. While donk was at the top of the charts, sh1ro and tN1R stood right besides him with 1.38 and 1.23 ratings respectively.
The final map was Mirage, where The MongolZ started wreaking havoc right from the get go of their T-side. After winning the first five rounds, The MongolZ ended the half with an 8-4 lead. Spirit started their second half on the right foot by closing the pistol and the force buy, but failing to convert a single buy round led them to a 6-13 loss.
