The MongolZ battle past paiN to keep IEM Chengdu 2025 campaign alive
The MongolZ have scraped into the lower bracket final after taking down paiN in the Group A lower bracket semi-final. at IEM Chengdu 2025. It was a messy affair which didn't see the Austin Major 2025 runners-up be at the usual best but they dug deep and managed to keep their IEM Chengdu 2025 campaign going. The MongolZ will now face Spirit in the lower bracket final and they need to beat donk and co. if they want to make the Playoffs.
mzinho and controlez helped The MongolZ start Nuke with the CT pistol as they went 4-0 up before a snow triple mowdown got paiN on the board. A string of hit on the A site saw paiN take the lead and it was a two round lead for the Brazilian squad at the half. A B hit and clean conversion saw The MongolZ take the lead of the map but a toothless T side from bLitz and co. saw then unable to breach paiN's defences as the Brazilian team raced to a 13-9 win. snow topped the scoreboard on Nuke with an impressive 27 kills at an ADR of 109.4.
biguzera shut down a B hit to see paiN pick up their first pistol of the series and after a clean anti-eco, a nqz double opener seemed like paiN will lock in a comfortable opening gun round before controlez came in with a big triple to see The MongolZ get on the board. After losing the early advantage once again, it was a hero AK-47 round from mzinho that saw The MongolZ get their T side back on track and they found rhythm to go 9-3 up at the break.
A snow double opener in middle saw paiN lock in both pistols on Ancient. The pistol and conversion post were about all that paiN could manage as 910 finally found some form and with Techno stepping up, The MongolZ eased to a 13-6 win to tie up the series.
A retake on the B site saw paiN kick off Inferno with the pistol and after seeing off couple of nervy force buys, it was nqz's AWP handing paiN the first gun round. nqz and dgt put up a masterclass defensive hold as paiN went 7-0 up before a B hit with a multi-kill from bLitz finally found The MongolZ their first round. 910 and bLitz helped The MongolZ find four at the half before a clean pistol, which was a full house from controlez and mzinho saw start their CT side with a bang. The MongolZ brought it to a one-round game at 8-9 before a B hit saw paiN hit double digits.
The MongolZ had a golden opportunity to tie up the game with a full pistol hit on the A site saw 910 flub his lines with the AWP and some sharp shooting from dgt saw paiN steal the momentum right at the end. A massive nqz 1v3 on another eco round saw paiN hit map and match point but The MongolZ managed to hold on for overtime. After a two on the CT side of overtime, it was controlez with an intuitive play on the Arch-side that saw The MongolZ hit map and match point and they made sure not to prolong it any further as they sealed Inferno at 16-13 to reverse sweep the series 2-1.
