2025 saw CS2's viewership numbers increase drastically

Counter-Strike 2 had a stellar 2025 with tournaments delivering strong viewership numbers consistently. The year started with Vitality's dominant seven S-tier events win streak which was topped off with a Major win at Austin and ended with apEX and co. recovering from a mid-season form slump to bag the year's second Major at StarLadder Budapest 2025. The MongolZ stunned the world at Austin, giving Vitality a run for their money in the Major grand-final.

People turned up in numbers to watch donk single-handedly turn games around for Spirit, ZywOo's masterclass showings under pressure, Falcons' star-studded roster struggle and much more, making Counter-Strike 2 the most watched esports game on Twitch in 2025 as per an Esports Chart report. Counter-Strike 2 recorded over 372 million watch-hours on Twitch. League of Legends was the only other game to have broken the 300 million watch-hours mark in 2025. Another Valve title- Dota2 comes in at #3 with 213 million watch-hours while VALORANT and Rainbow Six Siege round off the top five.

Counter-Strike 2 also made its mark in several viewership metrics, sitting well above some of the newer and fresher esports titles. In fact, Counter-Strike 2 was the only FPS title in the list of the most watched Counter-Strike 2 teams last year. The BLAST.tv Austin Major broke several viewership records and became the most watched Counter-Strike event of all time, surpassing the PGL Stockholm 2021 Major where s1mple bagged his first Major trophy.
