Bhavi and Ph1NNN qualify for PGL Bucharest 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier

Bhavi, Ph1NNN playing in Indo-Pak squad

The PGL Bucharest 2026 West Asia Open Qualifier took place over the weekend with teams from the region taking part in an attempt to make it to the main event in Bucharest. In the West Asia Open Qualifier, there were teams from Pakistan, Bangladesh and one Indian team along with a mixed team with Indian players.

LittleSa1ntJames was the India core team with pwniwnl, RobbeN123 and n1kace along with two Russians in kawochivo and sixpath66. They weren't the only Indian representatives in the qualifier though as Team Biriyani was a mixed team with Bhavi and Ph1NNN. Two of India's Counter-Strike stars had teamed up with veteran Pakistani players, HSB, SOULM8 and Sultaan.

Here's a look at how the Indian team and players fared:

India LittleSa1ntJames - Eliminated

LittleSa1ntJames started their qualifier campaign against Bangladesh's Red ViperZ and technical issues for the Red Viperz meant that the Indian team walked over to the next round without much hassle.

In their semi-final game, LittleSa1ntJames played Kyrgyzstan and Russian mixed team THE UNIT. THE UNIT started with a 13-8 win on Inferno before wrapping up the series on Mirage with a 13-6 win to knock the Indian team out from the Open Qualifiers.

Biriyani - Qualifier to Closed Qualifier

Biryani's opening game was against Tajikistani team FUSION esport. Mirage was the battle ground and it was a quick encounter as SOULM8 had a big map with support from Ph1NNN and HSB that saw the Indian team ease to a 13-3 win to proceed ahead.

Biryani faced Kyrgyzstan's AK Bars in the semi-final, picking up a comfortable 2-0 win. On the opening map of Dust2, the HSB and SultaaN show saw Biryani pick up a big 13-3 win and it was HSB on top of the scoreboard again on Mirage as the Indo-Pak team closed things out with a 13-3 win.

With Biryani making the final of the Open Qualifier, they qualified to the Closed Qualifier along with THE UNIT, as per the rules.

Fact box

As per PGL's rulebook, the Asian region has been subdivided into 3 subregions (Oceania, West Asia, East Asia), where each subregion's Closed Qualifier will feature 4 teams (2 invited and 2 from the OQ); the winner of each subregion will then advance to the Asia Final, a 3-team Round Robin to determine who qualifies for the Main Event. The Closed Qualifiers will get underway from February 26, 2026.
