Biryani stay alive in the PGL Bucharest 2026 West Asia Closed Qualifier after win over THE UNIT
Indo-Pakistan squad Biryani have kept themselves alive in the PGL Bucharest 2026 West Asia Closed Qualifier after beating THE UNIT in the lower bracket final. It was a comprehensive win for Bhavi and co. as they wrapped up the match in straight maps. Biryani now move into the Consolidation final and will take on the loser of the upper bracket final game between Legion and ScarX.
THE UNIT's pick of Ancient got the series underway with the Indo-Pak team starting with a clean pistol on their CT side. With Bhavi and HSB fragging out early, Biryani raced way to a flawless CT half as THE UNIT had no answer to a stellar defensive hold from Ph1NNN and co. which saw Biryani go 12-0 up. Biryani's hopes of a 13-0 came crashing down as they weren't able to convert a 5v4 on the A site with a triple from imyGDx seeing THE UNIT pick up a their first round. Biryani made sure to not let THE UNIT find any momentum as they closed Ancient quickly off the back of another A hit that saw them secure a 13-2 win.
Biryani shut down an A hit to start their pick of Mirage with the CT pistol and kept it clean in the subsequent conversions. The Kyrgyzstani team though didn't waste an entire half to get on the board this time as they were on the board early on when they brought out a mixed buy in the third round and the score was quickly tied up a 3-3. A triple from Ph1NNN along with two from HSB's AWP saw Biryani get back to winning ways and a back and forth finish to the half saw THE UNIT find six on their T side.
nesh and kyrosawa converted a 3v5 for THE UNIT to pick up their CT pistol on Mirage but the upgraded pistols of Biryani hit back as a quick A site hit, opening up by Ph1NNN saw them steal a force buy. Back-to-back hits on the A site saw Biryani hit double digits before HSB's openers in the middle saw Biryani hit map and match point. Biryani wrapped things up at 13-9 with THE UNIT having to play the final two rounds in a 4v5 disadvantage due to imyGDx having technical difficulties. Ph1NNN and HSB were the top rated players for Biryani with Ph1NNN ending the series with a 1.76 rating while HSB finished with a 1.65 rating which helped Biryani pick up a comfortable 2-0 win.
The win sees Biryani keep themselves alive in the qualifier and they have moved to the Consolidation final.
