The Huns lock in PGL Bucharest 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier berth
Mongolian team The Huns have qualified for the PGL Bucharest 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier after beating China's Rare Atom in the final of the PGL Bucharest 2026 East Asia Closed Qualifier. The Huns wrapped up the series in two maps, picking up a 2-0 win in the BO3 final to move to the Asia Closed Qualifier. The Huns had fallen to the lower bracket but fought their way through to qualify after making the lower bracket run stick.
The Huns' pick of Inferno got the final underway and it was a strong start from the Mongolian team as they went 5-0 up before Rare Atom salvaged the opening half to keep The Huns' lead to two rounds at the half. Switching to their CT side, The Huns picked up both pistols on Inferno and a clean CT half with controlez having impact saw The Huns draw first blood in the final with a 13-7 win.
Dust2 was a much closer affair as Rare Atom picked up their first pistol of the series but The Huns hit back with the force which saw them run away with the CT half, going 9-3 up. The Chinese team weren't going down easy and with Tiger's AWP taking control of the map, Rare Atom fought back to push overtime. A clean T-side start in overtime for The Huns saw them convert their early lead to a 16-13 win to lock in the series 2-0.
The win sees The Huns extract revenge for their opening game loss to Rare Atom, which had dropped them to the lower bracket and the Mongolian team have completed the lower bracket run, beating Chinggis Warriors and Lynn Vision on their way. The Huns will now take on the winners of the Oceania Closed Qualifier - THUNDER dOWNUNDER and the winner of the West Asia Closed Qualifier who is yet to be decider in the PGL Bucharest 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier, with the winner of the Asia Closed Qualifier making their way to the PGL Bucharest 2026 main event.
