Legion stun THUNDER dOWNUNDER to conclude PGL Bucharest 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier run; The Huns book main event berth

The Huns qualifies for PGL Bucharest 2026

Legion ended their PGL Bucharest 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier campaign with a win over dexter's THUNDER dOWNUNDER as PokemoN and co. ended their prolonged series finally, taking a 2-1 win. The win sees Legion finish the Asia Closed Qualifier with one win and one loss in second place while THUNDER dOWNUNDER finishes in third and last place with two losses from as many games.

Legion had gone down to The Huns earlier in the day, which meant that The Huns qualified for PGL Bucharest 2026, beating the Pakistani and Australian team on their way. The Huns are the 16th and final team to qualify and will be the second Asian representatives at the $1,250,000 event which will also have The MongolZ. PGL Bucharest 2026 is scheduled to take place between April 3 - April 11, 2026 in Romania with the likes of Astralis, PARIVISION, FaZe, BC.Game, NRG and B8 amongst others taking part.

THUNDER dOWNUNDER had kicked off the series with their pick of Inferno and it was one way traffic as the Australian squad were unstoppable on their T side, racing to a 10-2 start before closing out their map pick at 13-2, without breaking much of a sweat. On Legion's pick of Dust2, the Pakistani team started their T side with a couple of early A hits that saw them go 7-0 up before a triple from dexter got the Australian team on the board.

Legion went on to take an 9-3 lead at the half and a clean pistol saw them go 12-4 up before two A site hits saw THUNDER dOWNUNDER find their first two T rounds. The Australian team, though, had to forfeit the map at a score line of 6-12, due to scheduling conflicts with the CCT Season 3 Oceania Series 4.

A day later from the original scheduled date, the third and final map of the series final got going on Overpass as a triple from Liazz saw THUNDER dOWNUNDER start with the T pistol but Bloody and pavast4r's Deagles turned around a 2v4 to hit back with the upgraded pistol buy. The force buy helped Legion go on a nine-round streak to win out the half before a quick B hit with Tec-9s saw THUNDER dOWNUNDER find their second. Two was all dexter and co. could manage as an ace from HZI in the final round of the half saw Legion turn around a 3v5 to take a 10-2 lead.

THUNDER dOWNUNDER picked up a much needed CT pistol and held on in the conversion but once the guns came out a couple of A hits saw Legion got on to hit map and match point before closing things out at 13-4 to take the series 2-1.
