ECL S51 APAC Cup #2: Day 1 recap
ESL Challenger League Season 51 Asia-Pacific Cup #2 is underway and the opening day's games have concluded. Cup #2 features a total of sixteen teams in a double-elimination bracket with the winner heading into the regional final. The regional final will host a ruthless single-elimination bracket with a coveted ESL Pro League spot on the line. Here's a quick look at how the opening round of games fared.
Multiple teams forfeit opening matches
Last Bullet who were in action on LAN at the XSE Loop Cup Season 1 in Shanghai, China stepped back from their opening match giving BMZ a bye into the upper quarter-finals. Morningstar, 5star and MSN also received direct upper quarter-final spots due to no-shows from Take Me Away, Change The Game and Chinggis Warriors.
Just Swing takes down Haunted House; The QUBE goes down to FengDa
Just Swing took on Uzbekistani core Haunted House and emerged victorious despite hitting a slump on the second map- Ancient. The Chinese side answered back with a flabbergasting 13-0 win on the decider, Nuke with three of their players posting ratings in excess of 2.00 and ADRs in excess of 100. qqGOD finished Nuke with a 2.53 HLTV rating and 125 ADR while just a couple of players from Haunted House managed to cross the five frags mark.
The QUBE went down to FengDa on Mirage but bounced back strongly with a 13-2 win on Nuke to level the series at 1-1. However, FengDa maintained their composure despite being handed a 4-8 disadvantage in the first half of the decider, Inferno. A solid CT-side showing followed by a dominant overtime run saw the Chinese side turn the tables to hand The QUBE a 16-14 loss and take the series 2-1.

BORING PLAYERS, Alter Ego post convincing 2-0 wins
Kicking off the final set of games in the first round were BORING PLAYERS and Legion. After securing a marginal 7-5 lead on the T-side of Anubis, BORING PLAYERS were pushed to the limits with round for round trades but still ended up limping across the line 13-11. On Mirage, the Pakistani side was handed a 3-9 beating on the T-side and BORING PLAYERS once again made full use of their lead to breeze past the finish line at 13-10 and wrap the series 2-0 to knock Legion down to the lower-bracket.
Alter Ego came flying out the gate with a 10-2 CT-side against Rare Atom on Ancient. The Chinese side racked up seven rounds in a row to close the gap at 9-10, giving Alter Ego a run for their money but Polbandana and Gratisfaction dragged them across the line, posting a narrow 13-11 win on Ancient. Alter Ego's newest recruit, BOROS stepped up on Overpass with a 3.38 rating, 178 ADR CT-side showing to fetching his team a 13-6 win on Overpass and a 2-0 series win.
