Media: Legion, DEPO fight it out in the PGL Astana 2026 West Asia Closed Qualifier on incredibly high ping
The ongoing PGL Astana 2026 West Asia Closed Qualifier which already had some drama with PGL disqualifying XOM9KI a day before the qualifiers started, saw more controversy as the upper bracket semi-final between Legion and DEPO was talked about for all the wrong reasons.
Legion a Pakistani team faced Uzbekistani team DEPO and the online qualifier was the teams head to an Istanbul server which meant Legion, from Pakistan, had their players with ping between 100 and 120 while the DEPO players struggled more with pings of over 200. The two Kazakhstani players on DEPO, kade0 and buster had pings under 100, between 120 and 180. Legion had banned the Tashkent server for the game while DEPO banned the Mumbai server, leaving the Istanbul server as the one on which the game was played.
Legion won the upper bracket semi-final eventually, picking up a 13-9 win on their pick of Overpass before DEPO swept them 13-1 on the Uzbekistani team's pick. The decider on Dust2 headed to overtime where Legion held on for a 16-14 win to move into the upper bracket final.
Legion are currently fighting it out with Haunted House in the upper bracket final while DEPO won against THE UNIT in the lower bracket final and will face the loser of the Legion and Haunted House game tomorrow in the Consolidation final. The winner of the PGL Astana 2026 West Asia Closed Qualifier will make their way to the PGL Astana 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier where they will go up against the East Asia Closed Qualifier winner and the Oceania Closed Qualifier winner to fight it out for a spot at the PGL Astana 2026 main event.
